2011 R/C Pro Texas State Series RD #2
The heat was kicking and the action was intense at round two of the R/C Pro Texas State championship series race in Corpus Christi, TX. Another capacity crowd attended the ever popular R/C Pro state series all battling for points to see who’s going to take the honors of being the fastest off-road driver in Texas.
PowerMaster drivers filled the A mains in each respective class proving VP/PowerMaster is THE fuel to run if you want the best chance at winning.
The top five drivers in the Open Buggy class were all running PowerMaster 30% fuel along with four out of the top five in the Open Truggy class. PowerMaster drivers, Mike Battaile, Jason Branham and Jake Dellinger put on a show in the 30-minute A-final. All three drivers swapped the lead and battled tightly for the first half of the race, until Jake ran into an issue that dropped him a back a bit. However, the excitement wasn’t over. Jason and Mike continued on with some of the most intense and competitive racing I’ve seen in a while, bringing it all the way down until the last corner of the last lap. Mike safely negotiated the blown-out rhythm section before the last corner while Jason blasted the section at full –throttle almost landing right between Mike and the apex. Unfortunately for Jason he caught the pipe, and flipped his buggy over giving Mike a clean shot at the finish line. Denver Houghton drove a strong race not too far back from the lead battle to secure the third spot.
Open Truggy got off to a similar start as buggy, but this time is was just Mike Battaile and Jason Branham going at it. This battle raged on until a little over halfway until Mike found his groove and began to develop an ever increasing lead from Jason to ultimately finish on top at the end with Jason sealing the second place position.
Sportsman Buggy was very tight with PowerMaster driver Jerry Willet taking the win. The top six drivers were all right there for contention making yet another exciting race. Grayson Witt locked in the second spot while Phillip Wilkinson rounded off the top three.
